Kusoge Theater Episode 2: U-force

Ah, the U-Force. It’s a clunky waste of time that originally retailed for $70. That’s crazy money for a universally reviled product. Well, I now own one procured for the amazing price of…$5 in store credit.

The newest episode of Kusoge Theater is all about this astounding and revolutionary piece of plastic. While the U-Force doesn’t work very well, it did lay the groundwork for the Kinect and other motion controlled devices. The “power field” mentioned in the ad above is nothing more than an infrared sensor that breaks signal when you move your hand over it. Broderbund was onto something here and I admire that they went all out for it. But, as the latest episode of Kusoge Theater shows, it didn’t pay off.
